Would you like to get to know me?
I am Gracia Lafuente, art historian, educator, and coach. For over three decades, I have devoted my life to teaching and coaching, harnessing the transformative power of art and creativity to inspire change in people through museums and universities across the globe.
My passion has always been to uncover the transformative potential of art and creativity, both personally and professionally. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with institutions such as the MoMA in New York, where I led innovative programs in art history and educational coaching as the founder and coordinator of the Teacher Information Center. More recently, I have also taught courses, developed projects, and trained professionals at leading European cultural institutions.
Today, I continue to teach workshops on culture, art and creativity, and I organise transformative retreats in my family home, located in the natural surroundings of Extremadura. This intimate and remote space serves as the ideal setting to explore new forms of connection and personal transformation, which you can apply to your life and profession —a sanctuary to disconnect from daily stress and reconnect with yourself—.
What do I offer?
Through my combined experience in art, education, and coaching, I offer a unique and personalized approach to your personal and professional development. Whether you’re looking to bring more balance, creativity, or serenity into your life, make a major change, or advance a professional project, my programs are designed to help you find clarity and new perspectives.
I offer hybrid coaching sessions (online and in-person), workshops, and courses, in addition to my signature offering: a curated selection of boutique retreats that invite reflection, creativity, and growth, guided by experts and artists and supported by a dedicated team in a peaceful, natural environment.
My motivation:
Art as a driving force for transformation
Over the years, I have witnessed the incredible power of art to transform lives. This deep belief in the creative potential of human beings is what drives me every day, and I firmly believe that art and nature are two key elements in developing it. My goal is to contribute to a new world where physical and mental health, balance with nature, and interpersonal connection are the pillars of life
Credentials that support my mission
My training and experience are as varied as they are profound. I hold a Master’s in Museology from the Complutense University of Madrid, pursued doctoral studies in Art and Art Education at Columbia University in New York, and was the founder of the Teacher Information Center at MoMA, where I trained educators and cultural managers internationally.
I am also certified in Executive Coaching and Creative Writing by the University of Cambridge, as well as in Systemic Coaching with Jenny Mackewn at Schumacher College. I have practiced yoga for 20 years and continue to study mental health and personal growth, as I believe that lifelong learning is the best way to live fully.
I am driven by a desire for social paradigm shifts, supporting young people searching for their path, humanistic leadership, women’s education, sustainability, and environmental regeneration. To that end, I collaborate with foundations such as Middlebury College and Futures in the Wild, among others.
If you are seeking deep personal or professional change to integrate all your facets and co- create a more just, rich, and sustainable world, I invite you to join this adventure of growth, connection, and transformation.
"One of the things that most surprised me about the retreat was Gracia herself. She is a cultivated, deeply intelligent, wise, and yet approachable woman. Being guided by the direct experience of someone with such a clear vision of what she wanted to create helped me tremendously."
— Jill Rosen Campbell (Retreat Participant at Viña del Cura, 2024)
